Who we are
Brambin EQ is published by KUBOYA Inc. ("we," "us," "our"), a Japanese company with its registered address at 3-1 Nihonbashi-Tomizawacho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan. You can reach us about privacy at support@brambin-eq.com.
This policy explains what we collect when you use the Brambin EQ app or this website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your own data.
Overview in one paragraph
Brambin EQ is an anonymous self-assessment app. You do not create an account. We assign your device a random identifier (a UUID) that lets us save your results on our servers so you can see your history and restore your purchase if you reinstall. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, physical address, precise location, contacts, photos, or any identifier that marketers use to track you across the internet. We do not show ads.
Information we collect
Automatically, when you open the app
- Anonymous device identifier — a random UUID stored on your device and sent to our server the first time the app syncs. It is not derived from your hardware, your Apple ID, or any other Apple or Google identifier. If you delete the app, it is gone.
- App version and locale — to serve the correct language and diagnose version-specific issues.
- Crash reports and anonymous usage counts — sent by Apple to us at an aggregated level. Individual sessions are not identifiable.
When you take the assessment
- Your answers and your computed result — the answers you selected, your overall EQ score, your percentile band, the five per-dimension scores (self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, social skills), your top strength and growth area, the total time you took, whether it was a preview or full test, and the date and time of the test.
- Your results are keyed to your anonymous device identifier. We store the most recent 50 completed assessments per device.
When you buy the full assessment
- Purchase record — the Apple in-app purchase transaction ID, the product identifier, the price paid in JPY, the purchase receipt (Apple's format), and the timestamp. Apple handles the actual payment; we never see your credit card or Apple Pay details.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect:
- Your real name, email address, phone number, or physical address
- Precise geolocation (we do not use GPS or Wi-Fi location)
- Your contacts, photos, calendar, or health data
- Browsing history outside the app
- Microphone, camera, or sensor data
- Your Apple ID or any Apple-issued identifier (IDFA / IDFV) for advertising purposes
- Any third-party analytics identifier (Facebook, Google, etc.)
We do not sell or rent data to anyone. The app contains no third-party advertising SDK.
How we use your information
We use the data above only to:
- Provide the service — save your results so you can review your history, let you restore your purchase on a new device you sign back into with the same Apple ID, and return the correct localized content.
- Improve the app — understand which features are used in aggregate, diagnose crashes, and prioritize fixes. We never look at individual users' results for this.
- Comply with law — respond to a valid legal request from a competent Japanese authority or a law that applies to us directly.
We do not use your data to train AI models, for behavioral advertising, or for any other purpose outside the app's core function.
Who processes your data
Your data is stored by two processors:
| Processor | What it handles | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase, Inc. (database infrastructure) | Anonymous device records, results, purchase records | AWS Tokyo (ap-northeast-1) |
| Apple Inc. (In-App Purchase) | Payment processing, receipt validation | Apple's own global infrastructure |
Supabase acts as our data processor under standard data-processing terms. All traffic between your device and Supabase is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3). Apple's handling of your payment is governed by Apple's own Privacy Policy; we never receive your payment details.
We do not share your data with any other third party, and we do not transfer your data outside Japan except where Apple routes payment-related data through its global infrastructure.
How long we keep your data
- Result history: we keep up to the 50 most recent completed assessments per device indefinitely. You can request deletion at any time (see Your rights).
- Purchase records: we retain for seven years, which is the minimum that Japanese tax and commercial law (法人税法) requires for accounting records.
- Crash reports and anonymous usage counts: typically retained for 90 days by Apple's aggregated infrastructure, then discarded.
When you delete the app, the device identifier is lost from your device. The historical records linked to it remain on our server until you explicitly request deletion — without the identifier, they are effectively orphaned and cannot be tied back to you by us.
Your rights
Regardless of where you live, you can email support@brambin-eq.com to:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold for your device identifier
- Correct — ask us to fix inaccurate data
- Delete — ask us to erase your records completely
- Port — receive your data in a machine-readable format (JSON)
- Restrict / object — ask us to stop particular processing
We respond within 30 days and do not charge for reasonable requests. To verify the request, we may ask you to confirm the device identifier from within the app (Settings → Privacy → Your anonymous ID).
If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland
In addition to the rights above, you have the right under the GDPR / UK GDPR to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. The legal basis on which we process your data is:
- Contract performance — saving your results and restoring your purchase.
- Legitimate interest — aggregated usage analytics and crash reports, where we have weighed our interest in improving the app against your privacy.
- Legal obligation — retaining purchase records under Japanese tax law.
We do not rely on consent for the processing described in this policy because none of it requires it. You are not asked to consent to marketing or tracking because we do neither.
If you are in California, USA
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by CPRA, you have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA. The rights section above applies to you. We do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
If you are in Japan
The Act on the Protection of Personal Information (個人情報保護法 / APPI) applies. The purpose of use of personal information is described above ("How we use your information"). We do not provide your personal information to third parties except as described ("Who processes your data") and, where required, under the APPI's provisions for entrusted processors. You can request disclosure, correction, or deletion via the contact email above.
Children's privacy
Brambin EQ is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app, please contact us and we will delete the associated records.
The content of Brambin EQ is written for an adult audience.
Security
We use Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.3) for all communication between the app and our servers. Our database has Row-Level Security (RLS) policies enforced at the database layer: a device can only read and write its own records, never another device's records. We store purchase receipts but not the sensitive parts of payment instruments — those never reach us.
No system is perfectly secure. If you have reason to believe your data has been compromised, or you discover a vulnerability, please email support@brambin-eq.com so we can investigate.
Cookies and similar technologies on this website
This website (brambin-eq.com) does not set tracking cookies. We use no analytics scripts, no ad networks, and no social-media pixels. The site is statically rendered and served from Vercel's edge network.
Your browser may set a minimal, strictly-necessary cookie for language preference. No personal information is tied to it.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change how we handle data, we will update this page and change the Last updated date shown above it. Material changes will also be announced inside the app before taking effect. Non-material changes (e.g. a reworded sentence) will not be announced but will be visible here.
