Who we are

Brambin EQ is published by KUBOYA Inc. ("we," "us," "our"), a Japanese company with its registered address at 3-1 Nihonbashi-Tomizawacho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan. You can reach us about privacy at support@brambin-eq.com.

This policy explains what we collect when you use the Brambin EQ app or the website brambin-eq.com, why we collect it, who processes it, and the rights you have. It is effective from 3 October 2026.

Summary

  • You do not create an account. The app identifies itself with a random, anonymous device ID.
  • We store your test results, your answers, anonymous usage events and purchase records on our backend (Supabase, with the database hosted in Tokyo, Japan), linked only to that anonymous ID.
  • The website uses its own anonymous analytics. It sets no cookies and uses no third-party analytics.
  • There are no ads and no advertising or tracking SDKs, and we never sell or rent your data.
  • You can ask us to delete your data at any time by emailing support@brambin-eq.com with the device ID shown in the app's Settings screen.

Information we collect in the app

Anonymous device ID

When you first open the app, it generates a random identifier (a UUID) and keeps it on your device. This ID is not derived from your hardware, your Apple ID or Google account, or any identifier issued by Apple or Google. We do not access the advertising identifier (IDFA / Android advertising ID). Everything we store from the app is linked to this ID, and the ID is not linked to your name or contact details.

Test results and answers

  • Results: your overall estimated EQ, your scores on the five dimensions, and the date and time of each test.
  • Answers to test items: which option or scale point you chose for each item and how long you took to respond.

Anonymous usage events

The app sends short event records such as "app opened," "test started," "test completed," "paywall viewed," "purchase tapped" and errors. Each event includes the app version, the app language, the platform (iOS or Android) and a coarse store country (for example "JP" or "DE"). Events never contain your name, email address, free text or precise location.

Purchases

Payment is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see your card number or other payment details. When you buy or restore the full test, the app sends the store receipt to a server-side function we operate, which checks the purchase directly with Apple or Google. We then store a purchase record containing the store transaction ID, the product ID, the platform, the verification result and environment (e.g. production or sandbox), and a timestamp.

Information we collect on the website

brambin-eq.com uses first-party, anonymous analytics that we run ourselves. We record:

  • Page views: the page path, the host name of the referring website (not its full address) and any UTM campaign parameters in the link.
  • Web preview: that you started or completed the free preview, together with the estimated score range shown to you. Your individual answers in the web preview are processed in your browser and are not sent to us.
  • Button clicks: clicks on App Store / Google Play links and other call-to-action buttons.

To group these events, the website stores a random ID in your browser's localStorage and a session ID in sessionStorage. The website does not use cookies, does not use browser fingerprinting, and does not use Google Analytics or any other third-party analytics or advertising service. You can reset the random ID at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Our hosting provider, Vercel, processes standard server logs (such as IP address and user agent) in order to deliver the website and protect it from abuse.

Information we do not collect

We do not collect your name, email address (unless you email us), phone number, postal address, precise location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers. We do not collect health data. The app contains no advertising SDKs and no third-party tracking.

How we use information

We use the information described above only to:

  1. Provide the service: show your results and restore your purchases.
  2. Improve the test: for example, re-estimate the scoring norms from anonymous answers.
  3. Understand usage: learn which pages and features are used, in aggregate, so we can improve the app and website.
  4. Fix problems: detect and fix errors and failed purchases.
  5. Comply with the law: respond to valid legal requests.

We do not use your data for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell it.

Who processes your data

We share data only with the service providers that help us run Brambin EQ, and where required by law:

We do not sell, rent or otherwise share your data with anyone else.

Where your data is stored

Data from the app and the website is stored in Japan (Tokyo region). If you use Brambin EQ from outside Japan, your data is transferred to Japan, which the European Commission has recognized as providing an adequate level of data protection. Data in transit is encrypted with TLS.

How long we keep your data

We keep the data described in this policy for as long as it is useful for the purposes above, for example to show your results, restore purchases and improve the test. We delete it when you ask us to, unless we are legally required to keep a specific record.

Your rights and how to delete your data

Because we do not know who you are, we use your anonymous device ID to find your data. To access, correct or delete your data:

  1. Open the app and go to Settings, where your device ID is shown.
  2. Email support@brambin-eq.com with that ID and tell us what you would like us to do.

We will delete all data linked to that ID within 30 days and confirm by email. For website analytics, you can include the random ID from your browser if you want those events deleted too; otherwise simply clearing the site data in your browser disconnects you from past events.

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland

Under the GDPR and UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Our legal bases are:

  • Performance of a contract: verifying and restoring purchases.
  • Legitimate interests: storing results, anonymous analytics, improving the test and fixing errors. You can object to this processing at any time by contacting us.

If you are in California

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You have the right to know, correct and delete the personal information we hold, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

If you are in Japan

We handle personal information in accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI). The purposes of use are described above. You may request disclosure, correction, suspension of use or deletion by contacting us.

Children

Brambin EQ is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area), and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us with the device ID and we will delete the associated data.

Nature of the service

Brambin EQ is an entertainment app. The EQ test is a game-like set of everyday situations made to be fun and to spark self-reflection. Your score is a rough estimate from our own simple scoring model — it is not an accurate EQ measurement and has no medical, psychological or scientific basis. It is not a diagnosis and doesn't replace advice from a professional. We do not collect health data.

Security

Answers and usage events can only be added by the app and the website, not read back. Result records can be read by the app so that it can show your history; they contain only the anonymous device ID, scores and timestamps, nothing that identifies you. A purchase only counts as verified after our server-side function has checked it with Apple or Google. All communication is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, so if you discover a vulnerability, please let us know at support@brambin-eq.com.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the "last updated" date shown at the top. Significant changes will also be announced in the app or on the website.
